Morsels from the FOOD BANK
A group of volunteers from Boanerges Baptist prepared the bags this month—for which we are extremely grateful. The system of several churches taking their turn preparing bags each month has been a lot of help. If your church is not presently participating in this project, call Debbie at The Baptist Center and she’ll put you in contact with James Brown and his crew. It only takes two or three hours to put together over 300 bags of groceries and your church’s turn only rolls around every six months or so. It helps us more than we can say. And it helps all of the churches to be more aware of what is involved in your Food Bank program.
As is customary, the number of families
asking for help is down during the summer months. A lot of the families we assist put in a big garden and they are enjoying fresh vegetables. That beats a boxed meal any day of the week. As the winter months roll around, the numbers will most likely increase. As always, thanks for your prayers and your support of this critical ministry in these
difficult times. Food Received by June 30, 2010 came from...
Boanerges
Cedar Springs Delano
Friendship
Greasy Creek Hiwassee Union Mountain View
Oak Grove
Shady Springs
Smyrna
Wetmore
and Zion and an anonymous donor.
Check the Financial Summary section of the Broadcaster for specifics on the churches who have donated money for Food Bank use. We appreciate those churches that choose to include the Food Bank in their monthly budget.
